Here is an
additional stack of plausible gargoyle reports from Lon’s website. We have made enough noise to draw in
additional reports which is good. Our
primary prospect here appears to be a fur coated Gargoyle. We are also picking up some clarity for this
type of creature. Remember though that
we now have at least three plausible large flying cryptids out there all having
huge potential ranges and using different ecological niches.
This one has
been hard to pin down but we can now say a lot.
1
Size is ranging from four feet to nine foot tall
with commensurate wingspans.
2
The wings themselves are bat like indicating its
likely species.
3
It feeds by draining the blood of its
victims. It is a likely source for natural
cattle mutilations but not for noted UFO identified observations. This may even have inspired the sampling
method while not understanding that we had not identified the natural
causation.
4
The scream heard is important as it confirms the
natural aspect of the observation.
5
Claws and/or talons are observed on all limbs.
6
We now solidify the description of the black
blue fur coat and this clearly is designed for excellent night cover.
7
This creature can take human victims and anyone
found with blood drained would inspire the mythology of vampire attacks.
We are rarely
at risk because we are not nocturnal, and we are clearly population
concentrated. Besides there is ample
game and cattle out there. Likely a
group will attempt cattle and most alone will content themselves with deer.
The other
likely cryptids are not prospects for human attacks. This one is.
It will drop onto the victim and grasp the victim while reaching to open
the juglar.
Fearsome
Winged Beasts!
Thursday, April 17, 2014
Batsquatch...Mothman...Gargoyles...? For the most part these terrifying creatures are described as having fur, many times dark purplish or deep blue in color, bright yellow or blood red eyes, a primate head, a wolf-like face with large bat ears & wings. Several of these flying humanoids have a very similar description...though, each has a different moniker. I've included a few examples of fearsome winged beasts for comparison:
The
Mount Rainer Encounter
Location. Mount Rainier Washington
Date: April 19 1993 Time: 2130
Brian Canfield was driving his truck along the foothills of Mount Rainier when suddenly he experienced total engine failure and its headlights went out. Then a 9-foot tall broad-shouldered winged creature landed about 30 feet away. The being had a large mouth with sharp teeth, yellow eyes, a wolf-like face and was covered with bluish fur. After a few minutes the creature turned his head looked at the witness and started flapping its wings. The creature then took off towards Mount Rainier. The witness then was able to start his truck and drive away. A later search of the area failed to locate anything.
[ Obviously
this is a likely gargoyle, yet the stopping of the engine argues for field
generation. – arclein ]

The LaCrosse, Wisconsin Man-Bat
Thanks to researcher Linda Godfrey's
continued cryptid investigations and the submissions by the fantastic readers
at 'Phantoms and Monsters'. The following accounts describe another strange
creatures that could be labeled as a Batsquatch:
This encounter happened on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, on Briggs Road near LaCrosse, Wisconsin around 9:30 pm to a 53-year old resident who prefers to be known only by his Cherokee name, Wohali, and the man's 25-year old son. The creature they encountered was 6-7 feet tall with batlike, leathery wings with a span of 10-12 feet, long claws on it's feet and hands and a snarling expression on the face. It flew towards their windshield, stared at them and then swooped upwards into the night sky.
[
this is an extremely solid report that properly eyeballs the creature. The illness conforms to excessive adrenalin
production – arclein ]
The creature "screamed" at them before sailing straight up into the air. Wohali stated that he did not know whether the creature had been on the road and then bounced up at them, or if it had been flying at the time it came at their car. He was sure the thing was a physical, actual creature, he said, but like nothing he had ever seen before. Their reaction? Immediate illness. In seconds, both became physically ill, and the son, who was driving, swerved and then pulled the truck over into the ditch so he could vomit. The son, who wishes his identity kept private, vomited six or seven times. Wohali retched, as well, and both remained sick for an entire week. The son was so frightened by the encounter that he refuses to discuss it. But Wohali told me he feels it's important for people to "know what is out there."
Wohali also described seeing "distended ribs, long sort of human legs with claws, huge bat-like wings with 'arms' sort of attached, I remember the teeth and the scream we heard was terrifying."
Wohali’s account and his sincerity convinced Godfrey that he had a “credible sighting” of something she has not heard described before. “He certainly has nothing to gain by making it up” — or talking about it, she said. “He believes the more he talks about it, the more power it gives the creature.”
Godfrey said she feels it is important that somebody record these experiences. The Man Bat of Briggs Road ranks right up there as far as notable weird experiences.
“I do think this sighting that Wohali had is an extremely interesting and exciting sighting,” Godfrey said. “I do think it should have some serious consideration given to it.”
NOTE: since the time of these sightings some people have suggested that this creature may have been a Mothman who appeared previous to several mysterious drownings in the LaCrosse area. You can find Linda Godfrey's website at The Beast of Bray Road and Hunting the American Werewolf Home Page...Lon

Reader's Submission
Hi - I recently had an encounter with a
bird-like creature but I know it wasn't a bird - it looked to be a flying
person. I know it sounds weird and crazy but I know what I saw. Well here's the
whole story. On Feb, 5th around 11:30pm my older sister and her husband were
taking me, my little sister, my mom and my two nieces to eat at Denny's in a
near town (Fort Myers, FL). Well as we were driving on I75 out of nowhere
through the windshield I see a person with wings fly over our car. It went over
two times back and forth. I got a good look - it looked like a person with
wings but then again it also looked like a pterodactyl (pterosaur). My
brother-in-law also saw it and agreed with me. He says it was not a bird! Well
that was my encounter with the creature.
My nephew also witnessed a person-like creature. He was walking to his girlfriend's house late at night and by her neighbor's house there are some trees. He said he saw a person / figure standing in the trees looking at him. He asked his girlfriend if she also saw it - she said that its always there. He then started to walk closer to get a better view of it when the creature jumped off the tree onto his girlfriend's neighbors fence causing it to make rattling noise. The dogs started barking and then the creature flew off in front of his eyes. He then ran into his girlfiend's house scared it would come back but it didn't. My nephew's encounter happened in Lehigh Acres, FL a couple of days before my encounter happened! We have no clue as to what it is or why it would be following us?! It is very mind boggling!
The Butler Gargoyle
We also have a winged humanoid that was originally reported to researcher Stan Gordon. Below is the initial sighting report:
On March 21, 2011, I was contacted by a
witness who reported having an encounter with a very strange creature during
the early morning hours of March 18, 2011. The incident occurred on a rural
road in Butler County between Chicora and East Brady. The witness, a
businessman passing through the area, stated that “this was the freakiest thing
I ever saw, and it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.”
The man told me that he was driving down the road when from about a ¼ mile away, he observed something on the right side in a grassy area. His first thought was that it was a deer. The driver stepped on the gas to move closer to get a better view. From about 50 yards away, he observed something that appeared to be hunched down, and then stood up. The driver then observed a very tall muscular creature.
At this point, the driver had his high beams on and watched as the creature walked in front of a yellow reflective road sign, then crossed the two lane road in three long steps and continued into a wooded area. What he saw was a humanoid figure that stood at least 8 feet tall that appeared to have smooth leather-like skin that was of either a darker tan or light brown color.
The creature never looked at the witness, and was only observed from its side. The head appeared to be flat in the front section, and then rounded out. “At the top back of skull, it was like one of those aerodynamic helmets. The top was not quite a point, but looked like a ridge on top of the head.” The face was flat, and the eyes were not clearly defined, but the man thought that they might have been pointed in the corner. The ear that was observed on the left side was long and flat, and came up and back and was pointed backwards like a flap.
The arms were muscular and a little longer than that of a human. The hands looked more like a claw, but the number of fingers was unclear. One physical trait that stood out were the extremely muscular legs. The witness stated that it was hard to explain, but the legs did not move like that of a human, and “looked like they bent backwards.” The witness also saw what appeared to be wings on its back which were tucked into its body, with the wing tips extending toward the side of its head.
No unusual sounds or smells where noticed during the observation which was estimated to have been about 7-8 seconds. As the motorist approached the location where the creature entered the woods, it could no longer be seen. The next day the witness decided to drive back to the location of the encounter to look for any evidence. The ground conditions were not suitable for tracks, and nothing was found. The witness did, however, measure the road sign that the creature had walked in front of. The sign was just over 8 feet high, and the head of the creature was estimated to have reached about 4 inches above the sign. Stan Gordon

Large Flying Cryptid - Pickens, South Carolina
I received the following report in August 2013:
This happened almost three years ago - not
sure of the actual date. One night, while coming home from my girlfriend's
house, I saw something flying toward my car through the night sky at about
7:30am. It had leather-like wings and was almost as big across as the
windshield. I did not get a good look because it was dark, but it had almost
orange-reddish eyes and swooped up before it smashed into the windshield of the
car. The whole time I was pumping the brakes afraid it was going the smash
into the car. I told my parents but they tried to convince me it was a bat -
but I told them "no, it was way to big." Then one year later, my
Dad told me he saw the same thing flying towards the windshield of his car on
the same road and same spot. My Brother also saw it in the backyard as he was
taking out scraps. While walking back from the fence he saw the shadow of
something on the ground - like it flew directly under the outside light
almost blocking the light. He was shocked by the shadow on the ground. Then
quickly heard something moving around in the trees. He informed my Dad and they
quickly went back outside. They could not see anything in the dark but felt the
something was watching from the trees.
None of us have seen or experienced this again. What made me decide to send this was because of the flying dinosaurs article. That might possibly be what I saw - not too sure. Any ideas are welcome. I just know it was pretty big about the size of a man. I live in South Carolina. This also happened in the winter time.RR
I contacted RR for further information and received the following:
It was in Pickens, South Carolina - on a
back road called Shady Grove Road. The wings were bat-like and did not appear
to be covered with feathers. I did not really get a good look at the body. It
happened so fast - but the wings were so noticeable because of the size and
shape. The thing was at least the length of the windshield wing tip to wing
tip. It was flying at a angle toward the car. I don't know if it came over the
hill on the right side of me or from the field on the left. It was still a
pretty dark and it was flying a good speed, as it almost impacted with my car.
It was about the size of a man with long wings. The head also had a somewhat
triangular shape.RR
NOTE: of course, I can't forget The Conewago Phantom which possesses many of the same traits. The big question is...are these natural beasts or are we encountering alien species? Lon
