PEACE in the Middle East: Trump to Unveil Plan to Arab Leaders

This will get the central objective on the table in a very direct way.  I personally think it is only possible if we establish the economic design protocol that naturally leads to an end of endemic poverty.  In fact, done right, the Islamic leadership will actively promote such a program.

There are many other aspects that need to be fine tuned and what will be proposed in September will be bad mouthed by those in power.  This is still a demonstration of good will and is meant to be a continuing effort and may well produce a regoinal concensus, now that the conflict aspects are largely spent.

 This is progress..

President Trump has a plan for peace in the Middle East. The Hill reports that Trump will unveil the plan to Arab leaders at a Camp David summit in September. An Israeli newspaper announced that White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is also the president’s son-in-law will be visiting the region this week and will extend the invitation to arab leaders to attend the summit in September.

The summit will be held before Israel’s elections which are on September 17th, and a Washington source “believes that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was reportedly involved in the planning of the event, will not attend the conference in hopes that it encourages Arab leaders to attend.”

Relations between the United States and Palestinian leadership have been compromised after the U.S. moved its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Although more details on the summit and proposed peace plan are not yet fully public, the White House has released the economic portion of its Middle East peace plan.

The economic portion called “Peace to Prosperity” was unveiled last month and “calls for $50 billion in new investment to aid Palestinians and neighboring Arab states as well as the building of new infrastructure to connect the West Bank and Gaza.” The goal is to “empower the Palestinian people to build a prosperous and vibrant Palestinian society” in what is being touted by the Trump administration as “the most ambitious and comprehensive international effort for the Palestinian people to date.”
