Not quite. but we do have natural recovery and an human free biome. That may actually be not so good as active human activity constantly disturbs the environment producing an element of greater fluctuation.
It is still a large tract that can sustain actual populations that can remain viable. We do need these in a lot of districts mostly to correctly preserve the hydraulic cycle.
Little is said about radioactivity exposure now for essentially passive use. Disturbing the soil may well bite you, but passing through may well be safe enough.
