India produced around 25,000,000 babies this last year.  China reports around 7,000,000.  and Canada does 350,000 or so.   And around 3,500,000 for the USA.  I think yoou get my point.  Those numbers are a basic indicator of the real size of the population and also an indicator of reletive size.  It is also fairly accurate.

If birth rates were exactly the same and they are not. then Indias population of 1.45 billion infers a population of around 500,000,000.  Indias Stats are creditable while Chinas birthrate is horrible.  We can say that optimistically, China has somewhat larger that 500,000,000 but it is declining rapidly,

my ball park was 800.000,000 flatlined since 1980, but now in catastrophic decline because of the dearth of mothers.

What is clear is that the 1.4 claimed by China was magic thinking.  This also explains the several hundred million claimed to still be living in poverty.  They actually never existed.  Modernization impacted the whole population including the countryside which makes sense since someone had to feed them.

The take home is that the Chinese population is around 500,000,000 and in serious decline.  Likely the COVID pandemic story was a cover story whose aim was to write down this fake populatiln although they keep hanging on to their mythological 1,4 billion.  Yes, folks died there as well, but not  in the millions.

We have 700,000,000 in SE Asia which now is equivalent to China.  all these are benefiting from the industrial transition from China to SE Asia and India and Pakistan.
