Understand that this ballard fuel cell system just pulled a full coal train over the rockies. by simply switching out the diesel engine while retaining the whole machine itself. this tells us that hydrogen based fuel cells can replace all diesel based systems.
On top of that we can easily reform the hydrogen from natural gas sources as one option and it appears we also are discovering geological hydrogen which was never really anticipated.
And it appears that it really has momentum now globally. The last big shift was coal to diesel which took decades. This conversion will be far quicker, driven by diesel costs.
