Canadian oil security.
We are been shown in real time that the Persian gulf is a natural chokepoint for oil and natural gas supplies. The second problem is that those reserves are also facing geologically mandated decline curves which limits long term supply security.
the solution is obvious and real. Canadian oil production can be ramped up from the current 4,000,000 barrels per day to a comfortable 10,000,000 barrels per day just using the tar sands. this oil can be piped through to Prince Rupert or even railed there which is cheaper than even crossing the border south.
building the pipelines and the added infrastructure takes long term capital ,but all buyers in asia will see the need. Remember that USA reineries buy this oil because it is good to do so and makes them independent of the spot oil market.
6.000.000 barrels per day going to asia allows perisan gulf oil to become optional and protects all asian domestic markets.
