Osage orange hedging

turns out that the wood is ideal for growing a full on animal hedge which can stop pigs cold. you plant the saplings about a foot apart and then groom them upward to working height and then allow them to spread.  Perfect to contain cattle and likely deer as well.

these were commonly used in the nineteenth century before barb wire.

today it can stop pig infestation cold.  The fence row does not need to be thick at all.  Perhaps a foot. K ey is grooming to maintain.  not unreasoable if you can keep pigs away.

The tree is also a fodder tree and can also be copiced as well.  This rewards long term care.
