USA dependency on Canadian Auminium, Canadian Potash, Canadian Uranium and Canadian softwood lumber was not a thing at all in 1970. all of it was built out during the past fifty years. There was never ever a better alternative either.. these core resource dependencies have actuually underwrittten USA Industrial, agricultural and housing growth for those fifty years. Canada neve needed to actually convert those resources and sell them into a market.
with the best will in the world, the usa has no off ramp. That is also obviously true for truly expandable Canadian oil production.
And do understand that every dollar of resource input produces at least ten dollars of downstrem economic activity.
Rather obviously, once truly stupid has left office, the next presideent has to restore these dependencies on fair terms ASAP because the actual potential damage to the USA is horrendus. This is already promising to be long and painful until russia cleans up it act as well.
Understand that ignorance of the USA resource dependency will no longer be possible in the USA. THat dependency include all forms of energy, Agricultural fertilizer and all aluminium and housing of course.
