Magnesium Bicarbonate Super Water

I observed a long time ago that highly regarded spring water often as not, had a close encounter with dolomite which is the magnesian rich form of carbonates or limestones.

The best solution will be mandating municipal fresh water filters to be made up with plenty of dolomite.

Bottling it up is likely overkill.  Yet it is foundational to good health and best practise needs to be considered and this item shows thge way forward.  all this can inform our tap water.

In this chapter, we are talking about turning your water into magic medicine, miracle water, into a divine cocktail that will excite every cell and reach every extremity. This simple protocol will water you down to your roots, putting out the fires of inflammation and oxidative stress.

Medicine will not get any better, no matter how much money we want to throw at a disease. All medical approaches will be enhanced by a basic system that thrusts magnesium and bicarbonate pH medicine into a trinity with chlorine dioxide.

Magnesium bicarbonate is a form of water with high amounts of magnesium and bicarbonate ions. It contributes to your daily magnesium needs and supports a healthy pH level by increasing bicarbonate intake. Magnesium bicarbonate is the ultimate form of magnesium and the best form of bicarbonate. Super absorbable is the only way to describe magnesium bicarbonate water.

Many forms of magnesium are not very bioavailable, which means you have to take more to get enough. Magnesium bicarbonate is absorbed into the bloodstream with water directly through the small intestine. Ethan Evers, in his book The Eden Prescription, says, “Magnesium (Mg) in drinking water has a higher impact than that in food because it has hydrated ions which are absorbed very efficiently (only about half of Mg from food is absorbed). Also, food cooked in Mg-rich water loses less of its own Mg during cooking.

Bicarbonate ions are vital because they help transport the magnesium into the mitochondria, which are the powerhouse of our cells. Think of mitochondria as batteries in our cells that are producing ATP. If your batteries are low, then you will not have energy! Another benefit of magnesium bicarbonate is that it can help remove calcium in the soft tissue and even in the mitochondria.

Our bodies are constantly working to maintain homeostasis or complete balance. This includes tightly regulating our pH levels from being too alkaline or too acidic. Magnesium bicarbonate works like other electrolytes to support a healthy pH level in the body.

Magnesium bicarbonate is a complex hydrated salt that exists only in water under specific conditions. The magnesium ion is Mg2+, and the bicarbonate ion is HCO3-. So, magnesium bicarbonate must have two bicarbonate ions: Mg (HCO3)2.

In years long past, magnesium bicarbonate was plentiful in natural water. Today that is not the case though it still comes out of the mountains in Europe, California, and one source in Australia where they bottle and sell it as water. Our source of magnesium centuries ago was more from water. It wasn’t through pills or supplements, or even food.

The dedicated work of Dr. Russell Beckett, a veterinarian with a Ph.D. in biochemical pathology, paved the way to understand the significance of bicarbonate acting in conjunction with magnesium. He formulated Unique Water, which is water containing magnesium bicarbonate.

The ideal water is alkaline because it is rich in magnesium and bicarbonate. Unfortunately, alkaline water machines that produce high pH water cannot hold a torch to waters high in magnesium and bicarbonate. Unique Water from Australia and Noah’s Water in California, Donat Mg from Europe, and a convenient magnesium bicarbonate concentrate made in Florida offer water that is medicine.

The good news is that one can easily make magnesium bicarbonate at home inexpensively by combining magnesium hydroxide and seltzer water. (See instructions below)

Water is a great conductor of electricity, and because we are just giant batteries that need electricity, we need our water to have the very thing that makes it conductive, which is (salts) minerals. They ionize the water to allow it to conduct electricity. To charge you. Distilled or demineralized water is free of those salts (minerals) and thus a poor conductor of electricity. However, one can add magnesium bicarbonate to distilled water.

Holy Grail of Modern Medicine

Magnesium bicarbonate is the Holy Grail of magnesium administration, offering a straight line into the cells. Specifically, it is the key to firing up one’s mitochondrial energy factories. My newest book focuses on the need to combine medicines into a protocol of natural agents that can be used powerfully together at home to treat oneself independently from the medical system. (We now have a group to provide ongoing support.)

Magnesium is the lamp of life and has long been recognized as a cofactor for more than 300 enzymatic reactions. Magnesium is also crucial for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) metabolism. And magnesium is required for DNA and RNA synthesis, reproduction, and protein synthesis.

For those needing to approach the intensity of intravenous medicine but not stick needles in anyone, it is to sip on magnesium bicarbonate water round the clock. Magnesium bicarbonate liquid is my default water, more recommended than hydrogen water, especially if one has a hydrogen inhaler. If one does not, one can spend half the day using magnesium bicarbonate and half the day with hydrogen water.

However, my highest recommendation is to alternate magnesium bicarbonate drinking water with chlorine dioxide in regular water. Magnesium bicarbonate, which you can make at home with little expense, and chlorine dioxide, which you can create at home also with little cost, are the perfect trinity of medicines. These excellent essential medicines are where to start when treating diseases. It is also what to do if you just want to live longer and feel happier and healthier.

When made using magnesium hydroxide, it runs around 10 cents per 100mg of magnesium, including the cost of the carbonated water. It’s absorbable (see this experiment) and much easier on digestion than other forms of magnesium. Some people work their way up to very high levels of intake with it, which carries some potential for mild side effects, but usually, nothing worse than loose stools.

The Ultimate Mitochondrial Cocktail – The Science

Few clinicians know how these two substances enhance each other – they are mutually reinforcing because magnesium functions as a bicarbonate co-transporter into cells. And bicarbonate acts as a transporter of magnesium into the mitochondria. According to the Institute of Medicine, magnesium influx is linked with bicarbonate transport. Magnesium transport into or out of cells requires carrier-mediated transport systems (Gunther, 1003; Romani et al., 1993).

ATPase reaction has a broad pH optimum centering on neutral pH, with little significant activity above pH9.0 or below pH5.5.[i] Thus anything that moves us from overall acid conditions toward alkaline recovery into the neutral zone will enhance cell metabolism via mitochondrial optimization. Also, alkalosis enhances magnesium reabsorption in the juxtamedullary proximal nephron.

Bicarbonate ions create alkaline conditions for maintaining the enzyme activity of pancreatic secretions in the intestines. In addition, bicarbonate neutralizes acid conditions required for inflammatory reactions. Hence bicarbonate would benefit the treatment of a range of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Bicarbonate acts to stimulate the ATPase by acting directly on it.[ii] Magnesium stabilizes ATP[iii], allowing DNA and RNA transcriptions and repairs.[iv]

Bicarbonate ion concentrations decrease acid formation by carbonic anhydrase enzyme (Le Chatelier’s principle). The carbonic anhydrase enzyme produces less acid in the presence of magnesium and bicarbonate ions.[v]

Higher pH levels via bicarbonate will help the magnesium leave the blood serum driving Mg2+ into the cells and the mitochondria increasing energy production in body cells.

Dr. Boyd Haley tells us that “Mg2+ is critical for all of the energetics of the cells because it is absolutely required that Mg2+ be bound by ATP, the central high-energy compound of the body. ATP without Mg2+ bound cannot create the energy usually used by specific body enzymes to make protein, DNA, RNA, and transport sodium, potassium, or calcium in and out of cells. ATP without enough Mg2+ is non-functional and leads to cell death.”

Magnesium bicarbonate protects the natural organic and inorganic phosphate buffers in the cytoplasm of cells. Magnesium bicarbonate also neutralizes the acid produced due to metabolic processes and ATP hydrolysis. This allows more ATP to be hydrolyzed; that is, more energy can be utilized.

In addition, magnesium bicarbonate buffers the mitochondria in body cells from excess acid concentrations, improving mitochondrial function and producing more ATP. When more ATP can be hydrolyzed and more ATP can be created, body cells have more energy for optimum operation.

Dr. Seeger and Dr. Budwig in Germany have shown that cancer is mainly the result of faulty energy metabolism in the powerhouses of the cells – the mitochondria. A healthy cell has high magnesium and low calcium levels. The problem with low magnesium (Mg) levels is that calcium builds up inside the cells while energy production decreases as the mitochondria gradually calcify.

Magnesium ions constitute the physiologically active magnesium
in the body; they are not attached to other substances and
are free to join in biochemical body processes.[vi]

Magnesium and bicarbonate together are miraculous. Add chlorine dioxide, and we have a holy trinity of drugs that do the heavy medical horsepower necessary to lift us out of our disease states.

Bicarbonate Medicine

Dr. Lynda Frassetto of the University of California, San Francisco, says, “Insufficient amount of bicarbonates in our blood reduces our capabilities to manage (neutralize and dump) the acid our body produces. This is the cause of aging. 45 is the average age when humans show symptoms of diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and many other adult degenerative diseases. And since we cannot manage the acid, we accumulate acidic wastes in our bodies. These wastes show up as cholesterol, fatty acid, uric acid, urate, sulfate, phosphate, kidney stones, etc.”

The most important function of alkaline water is to increase bicarbonates in the blood because we lose bicarbonates as we age. The change of pH value causes the stomach to produce hydrochloric acid that enters the stomach, and the bicarbonates enter the bloodstream. So when we say that we alkalize our body, we do not necessarily mean increasing our saliva or urine pH; it means increasing the bicarbonates in our blood. The blood pH does not change, but the ability of our blood to neutralize the acid in the body increases quite dramatically.[vii]

In the January/February 2003 issue of the American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, Dr. Gospodinka R. Pradova published the result of a 10-year study of industrial pollution in Bulgaria. The study compares two groups of people in a plastic manufacturing plant: one group working in the plant with chemical pollution, the other in the non-polluted office environment of the same company. The conclusion shows that people living/working in a polluted environment have fewer amounts of bicarbonate in their blood than people working in a clean environment. Therefore, if you are a city dweller with a fair amount of air pollution, you should take notice of your bicarbonate levels.

Research published recently in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology found that having balanced bicarbonate levels in your body reduces the chances of early death. The study examined data compiled in the Health, Aging, and Body Composition Study for 2,287 participants.

Study author Dr. Kalani Raphael, associate professor and nephrology and hypertension specialist at the University of Utah, and colleagues investigated pH, carbon dioxide, and bicarbonate in association with long-term survival. According to the University of Utah, “Critically ill patients with severe acid-base abnormalities have a very low likelihood of surviving their illness.”

Dr. Raphael found that low bicarbonate levels are linked to an increased risk of premature death by 24 percent. “What we found was that generally healthy older people with low levels of bicarbonate had a higher risk of death,” Raphael said.

What you will need to make your Magnesium Bicarbonate1-liter bottle of carbonated water chilled. I recommend purchasing a soda stream or something similar and using distilled or reverse osmosis water. You can use plain seltzer water if you want to buy carbonated water.

Small funnel

To prepare the water, follow these steps:Chill a 1-liter bottle of carbonated water. You want the water to be cold as it will mix and dissolve better.

Measure out 1 tsp of magnesium hydroxide powder.

Remove the bottle of carbonated water from the refrigerator. Open it slowly and carefully to minimize the loss of CO2. As soon as the initial fizzing settles down, use a small funnel to pour the magnesium powder into the bottle. Promptly replace the cap on the water bottle and shake it vigorously for 30 seconds or so, making the liquid cloudy.

After 20-30 minutes, the liquid will have cleared, and any un-dissolved magnesium hydroxide will have settled to the bottom of the bottle. Again shake the bottle vigorously for 30 seconds, making the liquid cloudy. Continue to do this over the next hour. When the liquid is clear after shaking, all magnesium hydroxides should have reacted with all of the CO2 to become dissolved (ionized) magnesium and bicarbonate.

You may note that the sides of the bottle “cave in” when the liquid clears. This is a sign that the reaction is complete. If a small amount of un-dissolved magnesium hydroxide still remains in the bottom of the bottle as sediment, it may be ignored. It should be kept in the refrigerator.

This 1 liter of concentrated magnesium bicarbonate water will have approximately 1500 mg of magnesium and about 7500 mg of bicarbonate. Take 1/3 of the concentrate and add it to 1L of water. Start by drinking 4oz of the diluted magnesium bicarbonate water on an empty stomach for over 20 minutes twice a day. Magnesium bicarbonate is very alkaline, so avoid drinking it with food because it will neutralize your stomach acid, affecting digestion. Drinking too much at once can cause loose stools, so you want to slowly increase the amount you are drinking to 1L per day in divided doses.

You can purchase a concentrated form of premade magnesium bicarbonate if you prefer a more convenient option.

Conclusion

High alkaline magnesium/bicarbonate water increases digestion and nutrient absorption, increasing energy levels and detoxifying and even decalcifying the cells.

[iii] Mg2+ is critical for all of the energetics of the cells because it is absolutely required that Mg2+ be bound (chelated) by ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the central high energy compound of the body. ATP without Mg2+ bound cannot create the energy normally used by specific enzymes of the body to make protein, DNA, RNA, transport sodium or potassium or calcium in and out of cells, nor to phosphorylate proteins in response to hormone signals, etc. In fact, ATP without enough Mg2+ is non-functional and leads to cell death. Bound Mg2+ holds the triphosphate in the correct stereochemical position so that it can interact with ATP using enzymes and the Mg2+ also polarizes the phosphate backbone so that the ‘backside of the phosphorous’ is more positive and susceptible to attack by nucleophilic agents such as hydroxide ion or other negatively charged compounds. Bottom line, Mg2+ at critical concentrations is essential to life,” says Dr. Boyd Haley who asserts strongly that, “All detoxification mechanisms have as the bases of the energy required to remove a toxicant the need for Mg-ATP to drive the process. There is nothing done in the body that does not use energy and without Mg2+ this energy can neither be made nor used.” Detoxification of carcinogenic chemical poisons is essential for people want to avoid the ravages of cancer. The importance of magnesium in cancer prevention should not be underestimated.

[iv] Magnesium has a central regulatory role in the cell cycle including that of affecting transphorylation and DNA synthesis, has been proposed as the controller of cell growth, rather than calcium. It is postulated that Mg++ controls the timing of spindle and chromosome cycles by changes in intracellular concentration during the cell cycle. Magnesium levels fall as cells enlarge until they reach a level that allows for spindle formation. Mg influx then causes spindle breakdown and cell division.
