Lofted Housing

 

Our tech is certainly up to the task of placing dwellings up on stilts.  This supports a foundation frame on which a factory built can be placed.  Water and sewage and power also fits this model, not least because pressure is designed to climb two or three stories at least.  No problem there

Vehicular access can be by air taxi or even an airborne road if we wanted.  Most access will be by walkways connecting the housing.  This also has to handle rubbish removal.

What makes this attractive is firstly, the foundations become ground pilings.  These are potentially cheap to drive and properly install.  Simple steel beams rise to the primary floor level.  A hexagonal plan is likely best because we lose the constraints imposed by working with the ground.

Such lofted housing easily accommodates so called tiny homes as well producing netwaorks of walkways to organize the space and the community.  Shared elevators and stairs can be installed for actual ground access.

Way more important though is that this housing can be placed inside groomed woodlands so that you are essentially living in the treetops with full access to the sun.

What makes is work well are air taxi stations soon becoming readily available.

All this is well above ground level and can be laid out to allow shifting shade  to allow full understory forest cover and even grassland and cattle access..

We are getting there but the potential is for a lot of housing to migrate onto open farmland without completely taking the land out of production and providing an excellent living environment by design.
