Drone logging revolution

Essentially, computer managed prop configs is a solved problem and really as safe as can be.  On top of that battery tech is also safe and slowly becoming better.  All this provides an operational security blanket that even can be used for human transport.

right now we are seeing apps happening and they are even cost effective.  That is big.

What i now see happening is a huge revolution in drone assisted Logging technology.  All trees have need to be fallen which produces a mess to clean up and lots of removal problems.  this all changes is you can do things top down.

A suspended tool can top the tree and another tool can grab the top and then strip branches down twenty feet or more.  Then another tool can do a cut off while remaining gripping the tree top.  At that point the drone powers up and carries the new saw log to a loading dock or bay.

It is plausible that all this can be packed into one tool system to several working diameters.

This is the big problem facing our forestry industry.  A massive front end capital investment in roads and even helicopters literally disappears.

This also makes selective logging the best solution and tree farms can stop been grid based and become biome focused.

When it comes to flight, weight is everything.

The less weight you’re trying to get airborne the easier it is to start and maintain flight. Nature knows this, which is one of the reasons that birds have hollow bones.

When it comes to airplanes the same rules apply Wood, canvas, aluminium and now light composite materials all improve flight dynamics and improves energy efficiency.

Modern electric UAVs are only possible because battery energy density has reached the point where the power-to-weight ratio is practical. It’s still a long way off from the energy density of gas, but good enough for 30-minute missions.

Of course, we don’t just want these craft to fly. We want them to do things that are useful in flight. That’s what we call the payload of an aircraft. The spare capacity it has to carry objects that are not strictly needed for flight itself.
