HIV Vaccine Success in Human Trial

Step by step, the HIV problem is been beaten into submission. Now we have what appears to be a useful vaccine that can obviously slash infection rates for those most at risk. All this produces a decreasing pool of infectious sources which lowers the infection rate in a virtuous cycle.

Today it is not outright cured, but it is managed and that generally means it is safely managed. If the risk of infection can be reduced to negligible then the prospects of eventual extinction soon becomes plausible.

The Aids Pandemic was the NASA moon shot for biological research and we are seeing the fruits every day. The first cocktail for halting the progress of Aids consisted of three very toxic pills. Today the practitioner chooses from a palette of fifty different pills many with low toxicity.

The idea of a cocktail has also permeated itself into a whole range of disease protocols with success.

HIV Vaccine in Canada Shows Success in Human Trial

SAV001-H is currently the only drug for HIV/AIDS under development in Canada and a recent report has revealed that human clinical trials for testing the same preventative vaccine have been completely successful.

Researchers from the University of Western Ontario have developed the drug, which has been reported to show no adverse effects in the trials. The first human trial had been conducted in March with the consent of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.

It has been told that 18 to 50 men and women, who had been recruited for the same, realized no side-effects. An injection of SAV001-H was given to them and till date, no adverse consequences have been reported.

The drug is being supported by Sumagen Canada, which is responsible for the management of clinical development of the vaccine. The same has also been reported to have caused no increase in the formations of the HIV-1 antibody in a few patients.

The findings have boosted the team's hope to see success of the final stage trials, which would eventually mean the introduction of the first commercialized HIV vaccine. "I have no doubt about Phase 2. Phase 3 - God only knows", Dr. Chil-Yong Kang was quoted as saying.
