something i would llike to talk about because most efforts border on pushing nonsense and reminds me of Churchill. Paraphraisng him you can expect folks to do the right thing after they have tried everything else.
To start with, there is no imaginable situation in which mankind can successfully live close by bears of any type. let alone grizzly bears. They operate during daylight and charge blindly upon a likely target. Habituation is not possible but speedy removal is. There is a really good reason we hunted them out of existence from our farms. They will kill us accidentally.
Fortunately all other preditors we are likely to encounter actually investigate before they pounce and check out what they are up against and most have ancestral memory about the danger of humans. One human is easy enough but brings on persistence hunters who will run you down. this is why they actively avoid us to the point we no longer believe some exst. Particularly the Giant sloth or the dogman as now called.
now we have a pleasant surprise. turns out coyotees are able to earn their keep. They have figured out how to harvest young piglets in teams like wolves. One distracts the sow while several rush in and grab. This is shutting down the boar population explosion and it will likely end the problem the knowledge has already traveled widely. so all of a sudden, yo uneed to protect and even nurture your local coyote. we already knew this to be plausible but it is now real for all.
Herd protection has always been necessary and shooting preditors has been a poor choice. A local preditor who knows the rules can work for you. It also allows handy disposal of downers for any farmer. After all that your dog works to warn of real danger and warn off incursion at the same time.
We do need to harvest more deer unless we want the big boys to show up. We also need to figure out how to manage those herds. Managed leads to active protection.
