This may not arise this time around, but we have all been distracted by super power competition which is now been superceded slowly by the steady rise of the GLOBAL Middle class population which mostly operates through socalled middle powers.

We have The USA, and then China and India with the weight of a so called super power.  Or perhaps a third of the global population.  These are very much a class by themselves, but no longer controling almost all the worlds wealth.

Outside of those three we have well over a hundred countries of which many are already strong middle class powers.  The rest will follow inside of the next twenty years.  Please remember this as it is driving it all.

What is emerging naturally is a commonwealth fending off the importunities of the obvious three.  Understand, actual poliuitical unification is not necessary and often as not counter productive.  Yet bilateral trade arrangements are necessary and useful and it all becomes a rules based networked system.  Abuse will be countered by your trading partners soon enough working in concert.

Canada is naturally in position to provide a forum and leadership as well because it already provides pass through transit between all of Asia to Europe that is way shorter than any equatorial routing.  Any form of routing between Asia and Europe is best done be running North as much as possible.

Most of this is barely utilized as yet.  Few understand how important Churchill can be. Like Montreal i t is ice for six months and shipping can work with this.  Now do imagine oil pipellines and LNG there to supply Europe.

This commmonwealth can be stitched together with multiple bilateral agreements all working at eliminating tariff burdens and establishing quotas.
