this technology is now fully established and even partially evolved in russia. It is very good. The drum is up on short post legs with a weight bearing shoe. This can even be simply fabricated with local saw logs. wha matters is ensuring the drum is aseveral feet above the perma frost. This is particularly useful if you want to have ample open air protected storage under the cistern.
what is important is that even uninsulated, heat flow is properly minimized and this makes it all cosy with simple technology. Even a canvass roof stops a hot surface and also holds snow in winter if we have a simple blanket of insulation.
all in this turns out to be an inspired tech solution and provides a massive amounty of internal storage under the floor and along the walls.
It starts off as counter intuitive but appears vastly more practical than thought.
I’m sure that many of you will be surprised to find out that cisterns used for transporting oil and other liquids best serve as mobile housing units in the Far North. For more than 40 years, cisterns have been used as housing in settlements for shift workers, researchers, mountain climbers, and military personnel -- all of whom work in extreme conditions. Let’s find out more!
