Trump's failing health
I hate to write this, the signs are there and it has certsainly attracted public attention. Trump was never particularly overweight throughut his life, but now is his seventh decade, he has actually ballooned. It looks like chronic cieculatory disease inducing lots of water retention. Certainly not overeating.
More recently he suddenly stopped been anal over his appearence suggesting a loss of his mental edge. That could well be temporary and induced by the high levels of stress he must be under.
Understand that his trade war with the whole world has been a complete blunder, however attractive it originaly appeared. The proper response now is a comlete reversal and an actual apology and he must know this.. Stepping down to attend his health is necesasary and this allows Vance to properly pull back from the Trade War.
The USA will still lose one to two percent of GDP as a result and recovery will take time because no one wants to be ever again exposed to USA capreciousness which is what this Trade WAr was. In fact, Canada can now freely form a global Trade Alliance around NOT USA that allows everyone to trade first preferentially with each other as a natural extension of the commonwealth Preference system we have all forgotten about. At least China is finally focusing on its internal economy which matters to us all.
A complete reversal will not stop this policy drift, but will allow the USA to rebuild.
In the meantime, i do think that Trump is physically weakened and is coming to grips with the implications. He needs to take his walk in the snow.
