Ankylosaurus?

This came in on how to hunt.  Last third of podcast.  This took place of a local road near Geogian Bay.  This is at best cottage country and those roads have little traffic and are all through forest and alongside bogs we call muskeg.  Mud is the least of it.

The observer identifies it as an Anklosaurus and we can go with that.  It could also be a giant turtle as well though the spikes are not associated with turtles.  Whatever, these are totally uncommon..  Yet the fact we have even one associated with this biome tells me that a real population exists.  The fact is that it looked mostly like a pile of mud.  Out in the swamp, that is all you would see.

These critters will be herbivoirs feeding on the plant life in the water.  No end of such fodder as well as ample cover.

Now understand something.  The mere fact it is here tells us that it hibernates like most water based reptiles like the turtle.  It also tells us that it likely exists elsewhere as well.  It needs no spikes in the Boreal forest, but certainly needs them in crocodile country.

It is also able to survive the extinction events as did the crocodiles for the same good reaxson.  Yet here it is now seen in the boreal forest and it is no impossibility there.  We have likely come across this elsewhere, but simply did not identify it.  This observer identified it for us and no obvious alternative exists.  The giant turtles are extinct as well except in the Galapagas.
