This prediction is highly creditable. Others have predicted earlier but here we are still. I do think that this will hold up. Throw in that battery cost has now fallen far enough to displace the gas car as well.
Way more important is that the global auto industry is even now building the production lines they need. So yes the big transition is underway and it will include self driving EVs.
Now understand something. The resale vaslue of gas fueled cars will drop like a stone because a used EV will hold its value far better and no one will want to get stuck.
Understand that an EV has little to wear out and break when compared to the internal combustion engine. Recall we use electrics that are decades old.

Elon Musk is highly confident Tesla will have level 5 full self-driving ready in 2021 and will release it to Tesla customers in 2021. Some jurisdictions will allow full self-driving in 2021.
By 2030, about 70%+ of new cars will be electric and all will be full self-driving. It will take about 20 years to replace the entire fleet.
