For once we have something that makes complete sense. We are tagging all the elephants and rhinos anyway, so actually painting the tusks is totally possible as this picture makes clear as well. If the market does find a way around this, it will be no more difficult to add variations to the basic idea.
In practice we can still in time go back and collect the ivory of natural death elephants once the present illegal harvest is ended. We have to manage these herd regardless.
As i have posted before, actual mind to mind communication is possible and human herders are strongly indicated. All this will be necessary as we bring back the Mammoth and the Mastodon to manage our northern forests which they like to eat. Eventually the animals will come in each year for a fresh coat of paint and health check.
