I do not see that the discussion on antioxidants is useful or even meaningful. The oil is enveloping the surface of the eyeball and penetrating in order to produce a benefit. That this benefit involves sight improvement is unexpected but also reasonable.
That organ will need oil refreshment as a matter of course and it is plausible that a chronic deficency triggers abnormalities. So this is not stupid at all.
