Formal logic and mathematics. And even here those words are not necessary. You could replace a "Truth table" with a smurf table and get exactly the same results. Viz. If A is surf, and B is smurf then the statement "A and B" is smurf.<br /><br />Scientific theories are not true or not. They are useful or not, make useful predictions, can be falsified and verified by measurements and observations. Just consider the miasma or bad air theory of disease. Most respiratory diseases are, indeed, cause by "bad air". The germ theory was "better" than the miasma theory when it was proposed. Now, I suspect that it is not even as good as that theory, at least in terms of making predictions.<br /><br />So, when someone uses the concepts of true and truth when discussing science, all that they are doing is demonstrating ignorance.<br /><br />Oh, one more thing. ONe thing that makes science so useful is that the words that scientists (Not science, since science does not use words) use have well defined unambiguous meanings. True has no such.
