Sadly, the economic ideas of both fascism and socialism have been largely ignored or viciously derided thanks in large part to the conversion of the natural popular support to authoritarian structures of the worst kind. Of course all such political dispensations succumb to the folly of unlimited temptation.
Yet something simple is at stake here. It is the mathematical idea that if the State only ensures that the bottom fifth of the population is efficiently and even sustainably taken good care of, the rest can wonderfully take care of themselves as free citizens. What is so hard about that?
The real truth is that it is all an economic engineering program from then on. That is what the Nazis proved. The flaw of communism is that they took on the idea that a communist donkey could make decisions for the top four fifths of the economy.
