All i ask of you is to understand that your higher self is that chap providing good advice to your physical brain. Your physical brain must still judge the quality of the advice and also determine how to apply it. There is the danger of ill advice been pushed by outside agents of the same type, put this is easily eliminated through rational consideration or introspection.
I found that meditation resulted finally with the elimination of idle chatter in my mind. A very calming development that leaves room for clear thinking without any distraction. I had gotten there before through concentration and its natural form of contemplative meditation but still had idle chatter going on in the form of day dreaming.
Thus a modest practice in meditation will open this all up. My advice is to set aside an hour. You want to get the benefit of at least half an hour as it takes at least fifteen m8inutes to settle the mind and quell the chatter. Simply start with looking for light images and perhaps repeating a convenient mantra or prayer. Eventually it will all work out..
