To start with we need to transition hugely into a drone based fighting force in which the severely limiting Mark One human body is simply removed from the combat until all the hardware is destroyed. An immediate example of this is the F-35 which is simply too hard on the pilot. Replacing all that with a drone able to execute twenty G turns while hitting mach six is an unimaginable fighting platform able to knock any thing else out of the skies. I know pilots never want to hear this but the age of flying anything inside the craft itself is over already.
The job is far better accomplished sitting in a cubicle thousands of miles away with the best on standby able to take over if needed.
The military is very much in the business of spending money and barely in the business of fighting wars. The focus needs to be toward drone systems for all aspects of future combat.
